Rio Grande Valley Birding Films & Wildlife Photography NaturePlanet TV

Experience birdlife, rare species, and digiscoping films from South Texas

At first light in Brownsville, the landscape awakens in layers—soft coastal winds, still resaca waters, and the distant calls of birds found nowhere else in the United States. Through the lens of modern digiscoping, this extraordinary region reveals itself in remarkable detail, offering a first look into one of North America’s richest birding destinations. From dense thornscrub forests to wetlands shaped by ancient river channels, the Valley’s habitats support an astonishing range of life. In fact The Rio Grande Valley is widely recognized as a premier birding hotspot where tropical and temperate ecosystems meet. This rare overlap creates a biodiversity corridor unlike any other in the country. More than 500 bird species have been recorded, including dozens that exist in the U.S. only in this region.

All photos are by digiscoping film technique. Most photo shoots capturing about 100 field images to select from in post. Some days capturing 200-300 potentially useful images to card. It is production, practice and technique fine tuning to post about 1% to 2% onto the website for a interesting image composition of light and subject, representative of the bird species best pose in their natural environment.
